This Week in Room 3

It was a wonderful last couple of weeks in Room 3.

In Math, we continued our unit on Data and Graphing. We continued looking at daily polls and used pictographs as a way to organize the information. We have been getting really good at interpreting and understanding what the graphs are telling us! We have also continued exploring tally marks. We have practiced making tally marks and to remember to put them in bundles we sing "1, 2, 3, 4 and one more makes 5" as we cross through the four marks.

In Literacy, each day we do Word Work, practicing our reading and writing skills. We did oral sharing of our weekend. We take turns practicing asking and answering questions about our weekend. We then wrote about our weekends. We began learning about a new part of speech, Adjectives! We have learned that adjectives are describing words. We brainstormed adjectives about ourselves.

In Science we learned about Constellations and in Art we made our own galaxies with name constellations. They turned out so cute!

In Cooking in the Classroom last week, we prepared fruit kabobs for the staff. We worked on patterning when placing the fruit on the skewers. This was a lot of fun! This week we made Homemade French Fries. This was a big hit with the students. We talked about how fries are made from potatoes. We cut the potatoes, seasoned them and air-fried them! We of course then ate them with ketchup! :) The students said "these are amazing!!"

In Gym, we have been taking advantage of the gymnastics set up and practicing some of our gross motor movements. We did somersaults, rolls, jumps and balancing. The students really. enjoyed this.

As always, if you have any questions or comments please do not hesitate to connect with me via email.

I hope you enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend!

-Miss Karly :)
