Celebration of Learning
On the January Calendar I sent home before the break, I had that our Celebration of Learning would be taking place on Monday, January 27. It will now take place on January 28 at 9am. Please feel free to join us as Room 3 will be presenting along with Room 8.
This Week in Room 3
It was great to have the students back this week at school! We enjoyed catching up, and sharing our experiences from our Winter Breaks.
In Math, we are working on learning about Shapes. This week, we talked about 2-D Shapes, and their attributes. We practiced counting sides, and corners. We played a detective game where we had to figure out which shape it was when given clues. We also made a Shape-Robot.
In Literacy, we shared orally about our breaks, and wrote about them in our journal. We also read the poem "I Am" and counted syllables and identified nouns. We began learning about Procedural (How-To) Writing, and will be writing our own How-To books next week to teach someone how to make Hot Chocolate.
We began a fun Social Studies unit where we are learning about different places in the world, and choosing one to go on a "dream vacation" too. We will be planning the details of this imaginary trip in class, by figuring out details, such as cost of flight, accomodations, who we will take with us, what we will do once there and the things we will eat white away. The students are excited about this little research project.
As always, if you have any questions or comments please do not hesitate to connect with me via email. Have a wonderful weekend!
-Miss Karly :)
