This week in Room 3:
Literacy - This week we began looking at words containing, "-at". We discussed rhyming words, and practiced decoding vowel sounds. We also continued to explore our feelings. This week, we discussed the emotion Sadness. We talked about how we can tell if someone is sad, things that make us sad, and how we can manage sad feelings.
We discussed adjectives, by using our 5 senses to describe a pumpkin. We looked at the poem, Pumpkins and looked at the nouns and syllables in the poem.
Math - This week in Math it was all about pumpkins. We measured the height of our pumpkin with blocks, we weighed our pumpkins, we graphed the results of our measurements. We also opened up our pumpkins and discussed the terms "many" and "few" when describing the amount of seeds in each of our pumpkins.
Science - This week we did a Science experiment with our pumpkins. The students made predictions whether or not their pumpkin would sink or float. We found out that our BIG pumpkins do in fact float in water.
Cooking in the Class- This week the students in room 3 made the cupcakes for the staff who celebrated birthdays in September and October. We baked and decorated the cupcakes and this was lots of fun. We also each had a cupcake too to celebrate the birthdays in our class this month. :)
Gym - This week we played a new game called "Get your Junk off my Lawn". The students seemed to like this game. We also have been practicing dribbling and shooting basketballs.
Reminder to send your signed IPP pages back as soon as you can!
