This week in Room 3:

Literacy - We read a poem, called 5 Little Turkeys. We practiced reciting the poem together. We continued to explore syllables. This week we used a drum to practice counting out the syllables in words. We counted how many syllables were in each line of the poem and recognized that the number of syllables were in a repeating pattern. We started to explore nouns this week and practiced spotting the nouns in our poem. We continued to investigate three more letters this week: W, Y and X.

Math - This week in Math we continued practicing using number lines, and also used them as a tool to answer addition word problems.

Science - This week we collected four ladybugs and kept them in our classroom to observe over the span of a few days. Each student named one of the ladybugs. We had Bob, Melon, Baloney and Doll. We continued to learn more about ladybugs and did a "scientific" drawing of a ladybug in our Visual Journals. Then we took them to the ladybug tree to say goodbye. We also collected a special leaf and did a "Leaf Investigation" We compared it's size, colour, and shape.

Gym - This week in gym we pulled out the Parachute and played several fun games. This was a hit with the students. We had so much fun and so many laughs.

Cooking in the Classroom - We had SO much fun making our 2-Ingredient Pumpkin Muffins this week in the Staff Kitchen. We practiced gathering materials, reading and following the steps, and cleaning up. We each tried a muffin, one student rated them "16/15" and I would have to agree. They turned out pretty tasty. We even shared them with the staff at TRS :)

We read several books about giving Thanks and discussed what we personally feel grateful for.

Reminder to please send your child's library books back to school. It is exciting for them to pick out new books each week during our library time.

Wishing you and yours a happy Thanksgiving Weekend!

-Miss Karly
